As I was in the middle of a photo walk the other day, I noticed that I press the shutter button on my camera very rarely. Actually, I took just two or three photos that day, while having walked for more than an hour.
This happens not because I feel confident that all the photos I take will turn to be a success, reality is far from that. It’s because I don’t want to end up with a cluttered SD card with hundreds of jpegs that will need to be reviewed, moved to pc and backed up.
I curate the photos in my mind, filtering out those that don’t have value to me and then I press the shutter button to take the photo. Each photo must include a scene that I want to see again later.
For me, taking pictures is about having fun, focusing on the present moment and looking around, taking all the details in. It is not about filling the SD card and returning home with as many photos as possible.
